About HOTBIN
HOTBIN was developed by British inventor Tony Callaghan to make home composting easier and faster. The insulated compost bin reaches 40–60°C and turns a wide range of organic waste into compost in 90 days. Following successful trials, HOTBIN is now used by more than 100,000 households in the United Kingdom. Since 2024, HOTBIN has also been available in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Our mission
"We help as many people as possible to turn their kitchen and garden waste into valuable compost and thus close the cycle in their own garden."
The solution

The inventor: Tony Callaghan
Tony Callaghan started with a simple question: why should home composting be so slow and limited? Drawing on his background in biology and industrial composting, he investigated how heat, oxygen, and moisture could be used to accelerate the process.
After years of experimentation and various prototypes, a fully insulated composting system that maintains its own temperature was created. The HOTBIN makes use of the natural heating process that occurs during the decomposition of organic material. This allows the system to reach temperatures of 40–60°C and process materials that are less suitable for a traditional compost heap.
The result is a compact compost bin that utilizes the natural composting process in a controlled and efficient manner.
